The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Project Manager to complement our Vancouver office, where we are involved in exciting work across a range of building types including commercial, mixed-use, retail, industrial, hospitality, public buildings, and healthcare.

You will be responsible for planning and managing the provision of project delivery services for mid ($100M construction cost)to large-scale ($500M construction cost and beyond) projects.

The objectives of this role are to represent Kasian in a professional manner; manage client relationships, interests, and goals;

and ensure the quality and fiscal success of Kasian projects. Individuals in this role are expected to actively mentor other project managers.

Healthcare experience is essential.

Here's what you'll be doing at Kasian :

Plan

  • Respond to RFPs and EOIs
  • Prepare fee agreements and design contracts
  • Develop project criteria, scope of services, detailed work plans, drawing lists, schedules, and resource (staff, technical, budget) requirements over the project lifecycle in alignment with Kasian processes and standards of quality and client requirements
  • Plan project team utilization including the projection of workload requirements to facilitate the proper allocation of firm-wide resources

Deliver

  • Allocate assigned tasks, maintain and communicate the project work plan and requirements to the team, and manage completion and quality of tasks to ensure successful project delivery
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the project team to produce successful design and construction documentation and ensure appropriate team member utilization and growth potential
  • Ensure coordination of consultant documentation for project criteria, client program, drawings, and specifications
  • Actively manage project design fee budgets and costs to ensure project profitability and prepare reports
  • Negotiate fees for additional services with clients as required; invoice on schedule and collect on overdue accounts
  • Approve and control all time spent on projects, expenses, and consultant invoices
  • Take responsibility for the "Risk Management" of the project for Kasian
  • Ensure detailed Zoning, Development By-Law and Building Code review / analysis are prepared, distributed, and filed
  • Monitor and support on-site contract administration requirements including completion of professional responsibilities such as deficiency reports, required site reviews, certificates of payment, and letters of assurance
  • Ensure proper project records are developed and maintained
  • Coordinate with applicable authorities having jurisdiction during all phases of the project
  • Chair design and production meetings
  • Mentor staff in project management
  • Build and manage client relationships through dedicated communication and project leadership

Review

  • Advise the Project Director immediately of any project performance issues and work to proactively resolve problems through ongoing review of project quality, and monitoring of design fee budget and project schedule
  • Review and monitor project delivery, scope, and fees and initiate corrective action as required
  • Ensure that competent peer reviews are conducted at project milestones
  • Ensure completion of project scope and identify any changes to client and Project Director
  • Lead project wrap-up discussion and ensure the knowledge gained on the project is shared with the Project Delivery Group and Directors

What you bring to Kasian :

  • Degree or Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Interior Design
  • Licensed with a provincial regulatory body preferred with the ability to seal and sign all instruments of services,
  • Familiarity with Design-Built and other alternate project delivery methods,
  • Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in a related field such as Architecture or Interior Design, healthcare planning knowledge is essential,
  • Familiarity with the various BC healthcare authorities' working methodology is an asset,
  • Permit application knowledge,
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit is considered an asset
  • Experience with project management software and an understanding of project delivery software, MS Project is considered an asset
  • Experience managing projects to meet aggressive schedules
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Capable and willing to mentor
  • Excellent organization and time management skills including the ability to multitask and prioritize

Salary starts at $87,000 + per annum, based on a 40-hour work week. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, and skill set.
