IO’s Development Team is the centre for public sector land development in the Province of Ontario through its three Departments : Landmark Projects (LP), Social Purpose Projects (SPP), and Transit Oriented Communities (TOC).
The Development team manages a $40BN program, working on some of the most impactful and high profile development projects in the Province, bringing together new and existing partners for the development of commercial solutions and the execution of related real-estate transactions to deliver on government priorities.
The three verticals, LP, SPP and TOC, have direct impact on Ontario’s infrastructure projects including the creation of landmark destinations, health and long-term care facilities, housing, and transit-oriented communities that integrate with public transit delivery (along major bus, subway(s) and GO / LRT stations).
Your contributions will help to maximize housing supply, deliver long-term care beds, revitalize and modernize provincial destinations, and create complete communities that include affordable and attainable housing, public services, community amenities, recreation / family entertainment, daycare and employment.
As the Director, Development Program Strategy for TOC, you will coordinate critical program-to-government relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH), Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM), Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS), and our client ministry, the Ministry of Infrastructure (MOI).
Your influence will have impact on community ecosystems surrounding Subways and GO / LRT transit stations.
What You Will Do
In addition to engaging with key government bodies and administering policy updates impacting the TOC program, you will you will influence concepts and materials for program-level governance and approvals;
and coordinate partnership strategies with housing providers and agencies, and administer provincial policy updates that impact TOC Programs.
Who We're Looking For

- Several years' experience in a similar capacity, with a background in governance and / or policy within a government ministry or public sector.
Experience with Treasury Board submissions and real estate development projects is a must. We value a strong understanding of the machinery of government and the approvals process, as well as knowledge of land development in Ontario and how the province is implementing transit-oriented communities.
Skill in building and managing relationships is crucial, as is the professional learnings that come from public administration, business, economics, management, urban planning, architecture, or engineering themed post-secondary learning and / or experience.
A Master’s degree or equivalent professional certification in public administration, business, economics, management, urban planning, architecture, or engineering is an asset.
$114,700 - $172,100 a yearThe salary range for this position is $114,700 to $172,100 with a corresponding job level of M3 Closing date : Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11 : 59 AM EST (noon).
