About the Opportunity :
The Senior Development Officer, Corporate Relations plays a vital role in building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate partners.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications and Development teams, the Senior Development Officer, Corporate Relations will cultivate, secure, and steward corporate gifts in the $25,000 to $100,000 range, and participate in planning key strategies for corporate partners.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Relations , key responsibilities will include :
- Cultivate, secure and steward corporate gifts in the $25,000 to $100,000 range
- Oversee sponsorship activity within the corporate portfolio, including working with Event Manager(s) to define sponsorship benefits and valuations, as well as identifying and cultivating sponsorship leads
- Oversee Cause-Marketing program, managing top-tier partnerships including coordinating, implementing and maintaining the recognition and stewardship plan for Cause-Marketing partners
- Preparation of sponsorship and major gift proposals and corporate presentations
- Collaboration with regional teams to provide assistance and oversight with corporate partnerships to ensure they are supported with the tools and processes to achieve revenue targets
- Developing an understanding of BCCF fundraising priorities, attending prospect and donor strategy meetings where necessary to recommend research strategies and approaches
- Maintaining accurate, strategic and timely information on prospects and donors in our database, Raiser’s Edge, through coordination with database staff
- Qualifying new corporate prospects for further action in line with organizational fundraising priorities
- Identifying new prospective corporate donors, assessing their investment capacity and potential, uncovering facts that show how an optimum size gift may best be solicited, contributing to the development of targeted cultivation strategies
- Identifying giving patterns of current corporate donors and high level prospects; identifying corporate donors with potential for growth and increased involvement with BCCF
- Setting and achieving aspirational annual activity goals aligned with the priorities of the Foundation and BC Cancer related to : strategic corporate donor engagement;
solicitations (current and planned gifts) and the success rate of same; and collaborative activities related to revenue generation across the Foundation
Participates in the planning and evaluation of fundraising programs, campaigns, projects and events to ensure that the focus and integrity of the BC Cancer Foundation is maintained and resources deployed where appropriate.
Qualifications
- 5+ years related experience, preferably working within corporate fundraising or community investment within a corporation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- A willingness to work beyond core work hours, as the occasional evening or weekend may be required
- Sponsorship knowledge
- Marketing agency experience is a bonus

- Superior verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to provide clear executive information for the public, donors, prospective donors, professional advisors and all levels of staff and volunteers
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a dynamic team setting and be considered a team player
- Strong organization and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to be resourceful and creative
- Knowledge of corporate partnership principles and practices; keen interest in new and innovative ideas for research and pipeline management
- Demonstrated relationship building and management skills
- Ability to work with a varied group of stakeholders and interact with donors using tact, diplomacy and discretion
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, effectiveness and organizational skills and the ability to work well and within timelines
- Ability to work under tight timelines and competing priorities, maintaining a high-level of detail and accuracy
- Computer skills : demonstrated advanced competence in computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook) and intermediate experience with Raiser’s Edge or another customer relationship management system

Salary Range : $71,000 - $82,000
