About the opportunity :

We are looking for a Manager, Development Operations who is excited about the opportunity to facilitate the smooth running of the Foundation’s Development teams through strategic analysis, reporting, and process management in support of BCCF’s work to secure transformational support .

Working closely with the Development Operations and Development teams, the Manager, Development Operations plays a vital role in the delivery of the department’s success by ensuring optimum individual and team performance within all fundraising programs including : planning, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The incumbent will also assist on fundraising projects, budgeting and financial management, research and prospect analytics, mentoring our Development Coordinators, and assist with donor engagement and communications to enhance BCCF’s fundraising activities.

Reporting to the Director, Development Operations , key responsibilities of this role will include :

  • Working closely with the Director, Development Operations to develop and provide insight and input for strategies and initiatives for our Development programs and fundraising activities
  • Keeping management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports, summarizing information, identifying trends related to fundraising systems, programs, and activities
  • Confirming reports and benchmarks are effective, creating new reports where necessary to monitor progress of the program and ensuring that prospects are moving through the donor pipeline
  • Collaborating with the Research and Prospect Analytics Team by assisting Prospect Identification and Assignment and providing direction and guidance
  • Collaborating with the Database and Business Intelligence Team by providing direction and updates on process changes affecting the team
  • Ensuring Development Coordinators are supporting fundraisers to move donors through the donor cycle and working with their own pipeline of donors where appropriate
  • Assisting in the evaluation of both individual and team fundraising activities for which the portfolio is directly responsible, as well as identifying areas of future potential
  • Creating and implementing processes impacting various teams, ensuring all team members agree and participate in the implemented process
  • Identifying opportunities for fundraisers to leverage donor engagement and marketing and communication opportunities to help cultivate relationships and grow and deepen pipelines
  • Assisting in business planning and the development of a budget for all major gifts activities including the assistance and administration of the Major Gifts annual budget, creating expense and revenue reports where necessary
  • Reviewing ways to improve efficiencies to enhance development reporting, processes, and procedures
  • Identifying any potential gaps within the fundraising programs and developing a solution to enhance the program

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2-3 years professional experience with a fundraising or non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring, developing and onboarding new staff
  • Core knowledge + skills :

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, implement, and manage projects or assist with fundraising campaigns using recognized computerized development software programs
  • Demonstrated business planning and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with donors, volunteers, Foundation, and Centre staff
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment with tight timelines and competing priorities
  • Strong analysis skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Computer skills : advance competence in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook), and experience with Raiser’s Edge, RE NXT, or another customer relationship management system would be an asset

  • Salary Range : $65,000 to $82,000

  • 5 weeks’ vacation plus office closure between Christmas Eve and New Years, as well as half days office closures before each statutory holiday
