Job Description

Summary : Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Property Accountant will be responsible for the timely completion of the financial reporting required for a designated portfolio of Assets.

What you’ll get to do :

  • Analysis of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy through monthly account reconciliation process and utilization of working papers
  • Produce monthly financial statements reporting package (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flow, variance analysis and other supporting schedules) in accordance with client’s requirements
  • Distribution of monthly financial statements package to stakeholders
  • Preparation of any statutory compliance & regulatory reporting (e.g. GST / HST)
  • Preparation of year-end audit working papers, draft statements and liaise with external auditors
  • Integrating new property acquisitions as required (including due diligence work)
  • Assist in compilation of documents and information for disposition of property
  • Provide accounting support to property-level management personnel (Property Manager and site staff)
  • Work collaboratively with property / operations management to develop and analyze annual property budgets, forecasts, and capital budgets
  • Perform ad hoc analysis as requested by Asset Manager / Owner
  • Prepare monthly Cash flow forecast
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Accounting Manager

Who you are :

  • Post-Secondary education and CPA designation (or enrolment in CPA program)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an accounting position (property management preferred)
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge on preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasting, cash management and year end reports
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS preferred
  • YARDI Accounting software knowledge preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to handle a heavy workload and meet demanding deadlines
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment a contributor to knowledge transfer and collaboration
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining focus and composure
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a flexible hour environment, to work after hours as may be required to meet client and reporting deadlines (i.
