Europ Assistance Canada, part of Generali Group ( www.generali.com ), is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Product and Pricing team in Canada, who can contribute to the building of local Canadian operations.
Europ Assistance ( https : / / www.europ-assistance.ca ) is a global company, active in over 200 countries and territories in the delivery of our products and services.
The Canadian business unit will strategically focus its efforts on the Travel Insurance industry with the distribution of product offerings and associated service solutions to key stakeholders for their customers traveling abroad or with in Canada.
This role will report into the Chief Insurance & Product Officer, and is based in Toronto, with the working environment being a mix of in-office and remote work, though always in close collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in the underwriting and profitability management of our Travel Insurance business. You will be expected to liaise with other branches’ insurance departments and the global underwriting team, contributing to the commercial success of our dynamic team.
Responsibilities Include :
Evaluate and manage the risk of our domestic and international tenders.
Collaborate with the Commercial team to build the best possible offer for our partners.
Present proposed pricing structures, expected profitability, and areas of concern to the Local and Global Underwriting Committee and, on occasion, to our partners.
Steer the profitability of our portfolio through technical analyses by product, market, and various segmentations.
Define pricing adjustments where applicable or identify other levers to steer profitability.
Assist Onboarding / IT teams with quality assurance of rating formulas.
Work with data teams to improve existing data availability and automate profitability monitoring dashboards.
Validate pricings in accordance with global underwriting guidelines.
Contribute to global initiatives related to Product and Pricing Standardization.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required :
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related technical discipline.
4+ years of prior experience as an underwriter or actuarial analyst in the P&C or A&S Insurance business or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of statistics and proficiency in regression methods / generalized linear models (GLMs) required for data analysis and predictive modeling tasks.
Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and generalized linear models is required.
Expertise in Excel for complex pricing analyses and data manipulation is required.
Excellent analysis and synthesis capabilities.
Ability to communicate technical results to an audience with a different background.
Proactive and relationship-building oriented, driven by curiosity and personal initiative.
Organized and autonomous; manage multiple activities / initiatives in parallel.
Experience in the Travel Insurance line of business is preferred.
Any actuarial exams are a bonus.
Proficiency in PowerBI is highly desirable.
SQL experience is highly desirable.
Any other scripting / automation experience is a bonus.
French is an asset.
