Purpose of the job :
Following the award to Alstom of the GO Expansion joint development phase to transform collective mobility in Toronto, the Finance team is looking for a Site controller for Managing unit dedicated to the project.
The site of Toronto GO Expansion is hosting the development phase activities. It is currently an engineering site and might supervise manufacturing and installation activities in a near future with a strong ramp-up of its headcount.
Your role is first to implement Alstom finance and accounting processes and then organize and manage the controlling and accounting activities of the Toronto GO Expansion site.
Accountability and authorities :
The Site controller of this managing unit will be in charge of implementing and deploying Alstom controlling and accounting processes.
He / she will be in charge of the site budget exercise. He / she will also be instrumental in setting-up the right controlling system to analyse site performance in a context of open book with the customer.
More specifically, the Site controller will :
Financial Controlling
- Coordinate the budget cycle for this newly created site, implying to analyse resources transferred from other sites to Toronto GO Expansion site, volume of activity and site costs, whether direct or indirect and to calculate hourly rates
- Be responsible for site 3 Year Plan, Rolling Forecast
- Support the roll-out of SAP GSI (Alstom’s ERP), in coordination with the Business and tools project manager
- Control, challenge and validate the financial data provided by the site functions (expenses, budget )
- Responsible for providing accurate transparent information, support and performance enablers to the GO Expansion finance director and site management team
- Prepare periodic cash flow forecasts and update the forecasts to project cash availability and needs
- Capture and analyse under / over recovery of the site
- Prepare investment authorization business cases and monitor CAPEX
Accounting, reporting and audit
- Performing cash planning and other Account Receivable related activities
- Responsible for accurate closing as per Alstom accounting guidelines (including with our Global Shared Service)
- Prepare and reconcile monthly balance sheet and income statement
- Support internal control campaign once a year, be the owner of finance-related key controls
- Responsible for site external and internal audit activities
- In a context of open book contractual scheme with the customer :
- be the entry point of auditors assigned by customer to analyse accuracy of data
- support the periodic reconciliation process between invoicing and actual costs
- Collaborate with the Regional Accounting Team on specific related activities
Educational Requirements :
Mandatory :
Bachelor degree in finance or accounting
Desirable : Experience :
Experience :
- 10+ years’ experience in Finance and Accounting
- An auditing background would be an advantage
- Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Team work and collaboration
- Excellent knowledge in MS Excel and working knowledge of SAP or other big box ERP systems
- Project accounting experiance
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- French is a plus
