Our client, a Canadian multinational financial services company, is seeking a Director, Wholesale Financial Control , to join the Capital Markets Financial Control team.
The Director Wholesale Financial Control is a key leader in Capital Markets Finance, and will be responsible for leading, managing, and empowering a team of accounting professionals focused on providing critical governance and control functions over the financial results of the Capital Markets business segment, by analyzing and advising on key business transactions, as well as partnering and liaising with various business partners and stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate and reliable financial information.
Snapshot of the Role :
- You are the Quarterback for Finance with respect to accounting issues and will lead a team through orchestrating relevant activities with other functional partners to enable Front Office transactions.
- You will be establishing the control and governance framework over the financial reports of each business area as well as ensuring flawless execution of close processes including review of financial and regulatory submissions (e.
g., journal entries, templates) is fundamental to your role.
- Continuous process improvement and system change are critical to your role.
- You will lead a small team, enabling high performance through active coaching and candid feedback, with an eye to longer term development of your team member’s skills and capabilities.

Your Key Qualifications :
- Accounting Designation in good standing. 8+ years of experience required in a similar role.
- University Degree in finance, economics, math, or other quantitative discipline.
- Technical mastery of relevant financial and regulatory accounting standards (IFRS).
- 5+ years of People Management experience.
- Exposure to Capital Markets businesses including an understanding of complex financial instruments and transactions relating to securities, derivatives, and debt / equity issuances, together with a willingness and interest in deepening that knowledge.
- Experience with Financial / ERP systems.
