About this role
The Supply Chain Engineer will oversee the industrialization strategies and processes that support the most efficient, cost-effective, and adaptable materials flows from suppliers through our manufacturing facilities.
The Supply Chain Engineer will require close communication and collaboration with the engineering, purchasing, quality, and production teams, and external suppliers to define, develop and implement lowest total cost of ownership strategies.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
- Drive / own the industrialization of the supply chain processes, with focus on upstream supply chain, for the product lines of Powersmiths.
- Define the Make or Buy scheme using cost-benefit analysis to make strategic choice for in-house production or subcontracting.
- Assess and make recommendations on current and potential supplier capabilities and capacities to ensure alignment with the business’ short term and long term direction.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
- In conjunction with purchasing and quality teams, align upstream material flows with internal warehousing and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with production teams to adapt production processes to mitigate constraints.
- Create and maintain SOP documentation related to the Supply Chain industrialization process.
- Integrate Powersmiths into the Socomec Group global industrialization processes.
- Proactive identification and resolution or escalation of risks in supply chain industrialization strategy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend and implement changes to processes when appropriate.
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop and enhance reporting and analytical tools.
- Support the business with ad hoc reporting and projects as required.
- This position requires a hands-on approach combined with a strategic mindset.
- Adherence to all company policies, including health and safety protocols.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills :
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional work experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment with integrated power and power conversion products in various stages of prototyping, commercialization and production.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering, typically mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing.
- Experience working in engineer-to-order, configure-to-order, or custom product manufacturing.
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and other problem solving techniques.
- Experience with ISO9001 / ISO14001 Environmental and Quality Management Systems.
- Education or certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g. ASCM (APICS) CSCP / CPIM, ISM CPSM, Supply Chain Canada SCMP, MSCM) or Business Administration a plus.
- An appreciation and passion for mitigating the environmental impacts of manufacturing (products, processes, packaging, recycling, energy conservation, etc.)
- Proven track record in implementing new processes, equipment and tooling.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a drive for problem solving.
- Strong collaborator who can engage and communicate effectively with multiple and diverse partners.
- Ability to engage and lead discussions in meetings / team settings.
- Ability to balance multiple high priority tasks and projects concurrently through highly developed organizational and decision making skills.
- Solutions-focused and has a passion for achieving results.
- Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision.
Working Conditions :
- This role is in an office environment, with regular visits to the manufacturing environment;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship;
- Ability to travel to international destinations; must possess and maintain a valid passport for international travel (if needed).
