Stainless Piping Systems Inc. is a highly specialized stainless pipe and tubing designer, union fabricator and installer working in numerous industries such as Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, High Purity labs, Semiconductor, Automotive manufacture and paint systems, as well as industrial stainless steel piping applications.
We are actively searching for a Senior Piping Estimator. Project Management experience is a must and trade experience are preferred.
Your ability to thoroughly review bid packages for scope of work, timing and any risks and report to management for suitability of bidding is essential.
Due to the high value of much of the material and components we work with, your attention to detail and accuracy of the take-off process is highly important.
Understanding the construction process and familiarity of organizing trade crews as well as agreements across the country is beneficial.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Performing quantity takeoffs including entry into a computerized estimating system
- Preparation, final review, and submission of Bid Documents to ensure all bid requirements are met
- Assemble all elements of an estimate including labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- The ability to prepare takeoffs using drawings and documents
- Review specifications and RFP documents
- Attend and participate in site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required
- Participate in estimating turnover meetings with the project team to assist planning and budget process
- Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure sound and competitive pricing is received
- Maintain tendering documents on our tender distribution platform
- Maintain estimate tracking information on internal programs and sheets
- Participate in on-going training related to estimating and bid management
- Work with chief estimator to enhance and maintain estimate software database
Job Requirements :
- Works effectively in a team environment
- Strong understanding of specifications, construction methods, and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication, time management
- Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged
- Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, associated documentation, contracts, cost coding systems, and work breakdown structures
- Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Project) and familiarity with a computerized estimating system an asset (Accubid)
- Excellent organizational and decision making / problem-solving skills
- Experience in stainless steel fabrication and installation is an asset
