The Seven Oaks Gardens Housing Cooperative is currently accepting applications from candidates who are interested in joining our onsite property maintenance team!

This position is part time with the possibility of moving into a full time position in the future (based on site need and employee performance review).

Based on experience and qualifications starting wage for this position range between $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. The successful applicant will report to onsite administration / site coordinator and will be working under the direction of our property senior maintenance staff member.

Responsibilities :

• Perform daily property maintenance tasks and respond to job work orders as directed
• Perform routine maintenance duties such as painting, basic plumbing, basic electrical repairs, plastering, assist with moving building materials and equipment on site to individual work locations / units as directed
• Assist with snow removal from common area pathways / parking areas using tractor, snow blowers and / or shovel when required
• Assist in grass cutting / general grounds care - operate ride-on lawn mower, gas powered push mowers and various trimming / grounds keeping equipment when required
• Assist in maintenance of tools & equipment on site
• Be polite and respectful to cooperative residential tenant members
• Maintenance staff will maintain a high level of safety and security for residents, staff and visitors when performing job duties on site to the best of their abilities at all times
• Perform other duties, as assigned

Qualifications :

• Possess active class 5 (minimal) Manitoba drivers license
• Provide a recent Manitoba drivers abstract
• Provide criminal background check which includes a vulnerable sector check
• Strong command of the English language, oral & written
• 18 years of age or older
• Previous experience in maintenance, trades preferred
• Previous experience in small engine service / repair an asset
• Familiarity with hand-held tools and equipment
• Deadline and detail-oriented
• Demonstrate problem solving skills, possess the ability to work independently of direct oversight when tasked to complete projects
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including heavy lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, stairs, and a high amount of walking throughout the duration of the day

The site is comprised of three floor Townhouse units (two floors plus a basement), a multi-unit two level row housing complex and one three floor apartment block unit.

Together these residences make up over 130 individual resident units which are separated by park, open green spaces and connected by a series of walking paths throughout our community.
