About the Opportunity
General Ledger :
- Manage daily accounting functions, including, but not limited to, General Ledger Accounting, Asset Accounting, Pension Accounting, Internal Accounting
- Exercise professional judgement in assessing the relevant data quality (plausibility checks) and organize corrective measures if necessary
- Ensure timely and complete delivery of the financial statements and reporting of business and provide information for consolidation.
This also includes the data quality (plausibility checks) of activities performed in Service Centres / Hubs
- Perform manual General Ledger postings in accordance with internal policies and processes.
- Assess Accounting / IFRS current practices and procedures, while making recommendations for improvements. This involves research of relevant accounting topics under IFRS guidelines and identify, analyze, conclude, and recommend a course of action to tackle imminent or future relevant accounting issues
- Contribute to business related GL and Accounting activities for complex accounting topics such as financial instruments, goodwill & impairment, pensions, and M&A related transactions to ensure IFRS compliance
- In being a partner to the business divisions, use professional judgment to assess the need for GL postings and posting requirements with core business functions
- Lead the quarterly business review meetings with local finance heads of each business division and provide meaningful insights
- Coordinate relevant and material accounting activities between local Business functions, Global Accounting and GBS Finance teams to ensure the quality and effectiveness of the information provided to support Business decisions
- Oversee pension related entries in accordance with IAS 19 Employee Benefits and liaise with local HR and Controlling to ensure financial statement accuracy
- Strive to achieve efficiencies and promote new ways of working Via cross-functional collaboration and meaningful project contributions Reporting :
- Maintain and implement accounting procedures and processes in accordance with IFRS and internal guidelines. Identify and review gaps in processes and develop recommendations.
- Provide timely and accurate analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
- Review quarterly and annual financial results with Head of Accounting and Local and Global management
- Prepare and report year-end financial statements and quarterly Flux analysis for CFO and the management
- Manage the accounting activities including tax reporting
- Support Tax team with responses to CRA inquiries and other Tax relevant requests
- Execute Month end General Ledger close and internal control processes. This involves close collaboration and coordination with global SSC teams to ensure all deadlines are met
- Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and analysis
- Prepare and present at quarterly business update meetings with divisional finance business partners
- Solve any issues out of consolidation tool validation, reconcile statements, prepare OMI and comments, identify and solve issues and perform adjusting entries Audit & Other :
- Represent the local accounting team and company entities at global audit opening and closing meetings with external auditors
- Coordinate and manage audit testing activities of external auditors ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness
- Be main point of contact for internal and external auditors to ensure a timely and accurate audit which involves being highly organized and meticulous planning
- Coordinate directly with Head of Local Risk to assist in the pre work for global internal audits and subsequently resolve all internal audit queries
- Ensure that company entities are adhering to the ICS developments. Conduct ICS testing and ensure that documentation is up to date and reflective of relevant control activities
- Support Pension Statements audit, including revising notes based on FSCO and IFRS changes, changes in investment managers and SIPP guidance
- Assess all new capital projects for international and internal reporting compliance and collaborate with Costa Rica SSC to resolve any accounting issues related to conversion topics
About You
- CPA designation
- Strong IFRS technical accounting background
- Strong proficiency in MS applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Advanced SAP / DataOne / BI knowledge
- Experience working in highly matrixed and global environments
- Experience in a similar industry (CPG, Pharma, Retail) is a requirement
Salary Range
$140,000 - $155,000 / year
