HOURS OF WORK : (35 hours / week, Monday to Friday)
This position has the option to participate in a modified work week schedule (37.5 hours / week) Monday to Friday, with the extra hours worked as one earned day off taken once every three-week scheduled cycle.
PRIMARY FUNCTION : To research, plan, set-up, and troubleshoot computer installations and provide proactive computer support to users.
DUTIES :
- RESEARCH, PLAN, SET-UP, AND TROUBLESHOOT IT ISSUES :
- Plan for, install, test and troubleshoot various IT user issues;
- Work with the business units to identify technical considerations of non-LABC users; research options and solutions;
- Evaluate current and emerging technologies; prepare business cases supporting new technical solutions; implement solutions;
- Contribute to the planning of security systems.
- PROVIDE IT SERVICES FOR USERS :
- Provide direct end user support in Application Support, Problem Management, Change Management and Incident Management;
- Prepare standards, policies and procedures as they relate to hardware, software and delivery of services;
- Respond to technical problems and find solutions to minimize downtime;
- Create or update service requests information in service management solution;
- Develop and conduct training programs and seminars, and train users in the operation of computer equipment and the use of application software;
- Monitor computer system performance and usage and make recommendations to provide better solutions.
- PROVIDE IT HELPDESK SUPPORT :
- Provide a superior level of support to customers, including pro-active support;
- Work with end users to gather user needs, recommend solutions and liaise with internal team to implement solution;
- Provide technical support to end users;
- Review helpdesk requests and triage based on issue and urgency;
- Analyse service management stats and recommend improvements.
- PERFORM OTHER RELATED DUTIES :
- Work with and lead outside consultants and other organizations;
- Provide team leadership or project management services;
- Contribute to the development of service management framework;
- Ensure appropriate process controls are followed for day-to-day operations;
- Provide clear documentation for procedures, processes and configurations implemented;
- Provide technical assistance, mentoring, training and guidance to less experienced technical staff;
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS : Basic Requirements :
Basic Requirements :
- Degree / diploma in Computer Systems Technology from a recognized educational institution.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience as outlined in rated requirements.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Rated Requirements :
- Knowledge of Intel-based computer and server architecture.
- Knowledge of interaction and relationships of computer hardware and software.
- Knowledge of the installation, configuration and maintenance of current Microsoft operating system software.
- Knowledge of software / hardware required for secured computer networks.
- Knowledge of applications software and their configuration on a network.
- Knowledge of diagnostics and problem-solving techniques for computers and peripherals.
- Knowledge of the IT marketplace and emerging technologies.
- Ability to multi-task and collaborate with external organizations.
- Ability to cope with heavy volume of work and work under pressure.
- Ability to organize workload, identify urgent work items and set priorities.
- Ability to prepare small business cases and provide recommendations.
