AtkinsRéalis is in search of a Technical Director to join a transformative transit infrastructure project in Calgary .

The Green Line LRT (light rail transit) Project is the largest infrastructure investment in Calgary’s history. It comes with $5.

5 billion in commitments from the Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and The City of Calgary. The Green Line LRT is designed to be both a transit system and a platform for future city building opportunities.

It encourages redevelopment and investment in Calgary businesses and communities. At 18-kms, Phase 1 will create 20,000 jobs, $2.

2B in long-term city-shaping benefits and more than $6B in property value uplift by 2040.

You will be embedded within the client office team environment, and as such you are required to be in downtown Calgary , for the full working week

Your role within the team :

  • Lead the technical planning and design of a rail infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical project plans, schedules, and budgets, including cost estimates, risk management plans, and quality control procedures.
  • Oversee the work of the project engineers, technicians, and other technical staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Ensure that all technical aspects of a project are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to ensure that all technical requirements are met.
  • Participate in project reviews and provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager and other senior stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues and provide solutions to resolve any technical problems that arise during the project.
  • Monitor the composition of the technical team to ensure the team has appropriate competencies to execute the scope effectively.

The Ideal Candidate :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in senior design management roles with five years of experience in a senior role (e.g., a Design or Technical Director).
  • Experience in risk management and quality control, and a thorough understanding of project management processes and methodologies.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in rail infrastructure project management.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale rail infrastructure projects, with experience in project planning, design, and delivery.
  • Strong technical knowledge of rail infrastructure systems and components, including track, signals, power, and communications systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites.
  • Must be willing to travel to vendor locations.
  • Must be able to work away from home for periods of time.
