PLA 1653 H1S : Advanced Studio in Urban Design and Planning

Course Description : This course is an advanced version of PLA 1652H. Emphasis will be placed on research application to urban design, and the use of computer-generated images for design and presentation purposes.

Estimate of TA Support : 25

Class Schedule : Mondays, 12 : 00pm to 3 : 00pm and Wednesdays, 2 : 00pm to 5 : 00pm

Sessional dates of appointment : January 1, 2025 April 30, 2025

Salary : Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.89. Sessional Lecturer I Long-term - $9,930.79. Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.76.

Sessional Lecturer II Long-term - $10,326.61; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long-term - $10,570.01

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications : A Ph.D. in Geography, Planning or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications : Previous university level experience as a sole or co-instructor preferred. Completion of a professional development course on teaching preferred.

Previous graduate level university teaching strongly preferred. Teaching this or a similar course at the University level is preferred.

• Brief description of duties : Preparing materials for lectures and class discussions; preparing course syllabi and selecting relevant readings;
• developing, administering, and marking course assignments, tests and exams; test / exam invigilation; holding regular office hours;

planning and supervising the work of teaching assistants.
