Job Overview
Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Actuarial Consultant / Senior Actuarial Analyst on the Personal Property Pricing team will provide contributions to the business based on both work experience and knowledge from actuarial exams.
In this role, you will conduct traditional pricing analysis, build and update predictive models, mentor junior analysts, implement changes to existing Property products, and develop new products while working collaboratively with stakeholders across the company, including Corporate Actuarial, Advanced Analytics, Auto Pricing, Commercial, & Product Design.
We are open to hiring at various levels including Senior Actuarial Analyst, Actuarial Consultant, or Senior Actuarial Consultant.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform ratemaking and product reviews for personal property products, including conducting rate indications, predictive modelling, competitive analysis, and financial impact analysis.
- Make quality recommendations and present supporting results to management.
- Provide actuarial support for new product development and assist implementation of changes in the system.
- Perform monitoring activities to assess the quality of our insurance portfolio.
- Maintain, develop, and validate actuarial reports to meet business needs.
- Develop, modify, and validate predictive statistical models.
- Assist in other actuarial / underwriting / IT areas as required. Mentor and coach junior actuarial analysts.
Qualifications
Work Experience Minimum of 2 years' prior work experience in insurance or related field. P&C Actuarial Pricing experience a strong asset.
Experience with predictive modelling techniques such as GLMs is considered an asset. Experience with modelling software such as Emblem, Classifier or Radar is considered an asset.
Education Undergraduate university degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics or other related field of study.
Minimum of four (4) Associateship / Fellowship Exams; ACAS / ACIA designation an asset.
- Skills Required :
- Problem solving Strong ability to apply knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to problems in insurance.
- Computer proficiency Ability to translate problem solving methods and ideas to various computer languages efficiently and effectively.
Understanding of database systems and how to interpret / extract data from those systems
- Communication. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate at the right level of complexity for the audience.
- Organization Strong ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner.
- Teamwork and leadership Work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment and involve others when appropriate
