Cleaning & Home Care Specialist

We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and detail-oriented Home Cleaning & Maintenance Specialist to provide full-time care and upkeep for a private residence. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, comfortable, and well-managed home.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete day-to-day care of the residence, including cleaning and sanitizing all rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, floors, appliances, windows, and other household surfaces. Regular duties will also include washing and putting away dishes, doing laundry, folding and organizing clothing, changing bed linens, making beds, ironing when required, taking out garbage, restocking household supplies, and keeping closets, cupboards, storage areas, and common spaces organized.

The role will also involve deep cleaning, seasonal cleaning, monitoring the general condition of the home, identifying maintenance or repair needs, and assisting with light household maintenance tasks when appropriate. The individual must be able to independently prioritize responsibilities and ensure the entire home remains clean, orderly, presentable, and properly maintained at all times.

We are looking for someone who is trustworthy, punctual, respectful of privacy, physically capable, and committed to delivering consistently high-quality work. Previous professional housekeeping, residential cleaning, or home-care experience is preferred. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation and be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Compensation:

$38,000 - $45,000 yearly

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the entire private residence to a consistently high standard of cleanliness, organization, comfort, and presentation.

• Clean all interior areas, including bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, hallways, stairways, kitchens, home offices, basements, storage areas, and other household spaces.

• Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, bathtubs, mirrors, countertops, cabinets, floors, and fixtures.

• Maintain the kitchen daily, including washing and putting away dishes, loading and unloading the dishwasher, cleaning appliances, wiping countertops and cabinets, sanitizing sinks, and keeping the pantry and refrigerator organized.

• Manage all household laundry, including washing, drying, folding, ironing when required, organizing clothing, changing bed linens, making beds, and maintaining towels and other household fabrics.

• Complete regular deep-cleaning duties, including baseboards, windows, blinds, doors, walls, light fixtures, furniture, carpets, upholstery, appliances, closets, cupboards, and hard-to-reach areas.

• Maintain exterior areas of the home, including washing exterior doors and windows where safely accessible, cleaning entrances, patios, decks, outdoor furniture, walkways, and keeping the immediate property tidy and presentable.

• Purchase groceries and household supplies according to an approved list, properly store all items, monitor inventory, and advise when essential products need to be replenished.

• Organize and maintain household spaces, including closets, cabinets, pantries, storage rooms, laundry areas, the garage, and other designated areas.

• Handle garbage and recycling, including emptying bins, replacing liners, sorting recyclable materials, and placing containers outside according to the collection schedule.

• Provide routine property upkeep, including replacing light bulbs, checking household supplies, identifying visible damage, and completing safe, basic maintenance tasks within the employee’s abilities.

• Monitor the general condition of the property and immediately report leaks, appliance issues, damage, safety concerns, or repairs requiring a qualified professional.

• Assist with access for approved contractors and service providers and confirm that assigned maintenance or repair work has been completed.

• Perform seasonal household duties, which may include spring and fall cleaning, preparing outdoor areas, organizing seasonal items, and assisting with light snow clearing or yard cleanup when required.

• Maintain complete privacy and confidentiality concerning the homeowners, family members, visitors, schedules, possessions, and all personal information.

• Work independently and manage priorities effectively, ensuring the entire residence and surrounding property remain clean, organized, stocked, safe, and properly maintained at all times.

• Complete additional reasonable household duties assigned by the homeowners based on the day-to-day needs of the private residence.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of two years of professional experience in private-home housekeeping, residential cleaning, property care, or a comparable household position is preferred.

• Proven ability to maintain an entire residence, including kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, laundry facilities, storage spaces, and exterior areas.

• Strong knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and proper sanitation practices, including the safe care of different surfaces, appliances, furniture, flooring, and household materials.

• Experience managing laundry and linens, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, stain removal, changing bed linens, and organizing clothing.

• Highly dependable, honest, and trustworthy, with a strong understanding of the privacy and discretion required when working inside a private family residence.

• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to notice what needs to be cleaned, organized, replenished, repaired, or maintained without waiting for instructions.

• Ability to work independently, organize daily responsibilities, manage time effectively, and complete assigned duties to a consistently high standard.

• Comfortable purchasing groceries and household supplies, following shopping lists, monitoring inventory, handling receipts, and staying within an approved budget.

• Basic home-maintenance knowledge and the ability to safely complete minor household tasks, recognize potential problems, and report repairs requiring a qualified professional.

• Physically capable of performing household duties, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and safely lifting or carrying up to 30 pounds.

• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required for grocery shopping, purchasing household supplies, and completing property-related errands.

• Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions and provide timely updates to the homeowners.

• Professional, respectful, and positive attitude, with a genuine commitment to maintaining a clean, comfortable, organized, and welcoming home.

• Willingness to complete a criminal record check and provide professional references due to the private and trusted nature of the position.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada and available to work the required full-time schedule.

• Flexibility to assist with occasional seasonal or special household requirements when reasonable advance notice is provided.
