Industrial Electrical Estimator

We are currently seeking an Industrial Electrical Estimator to join our team, supporting projects across both Draw Energy and Trotter & Morton Building Technologies. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and a collaborative approach, looking to contribute to a dynamic and growing organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and proposals for industrial electrical and instrumentation projects within Agriculture & Process Solutions.
• Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop detailed scopes of work.
• Perform quantity take-offs, labour and material costing, and subcontractor pricing analysis.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure best value and compliance with project requirements.
• Identify project risks, opportunities, and cost-saving strategies during the
  estimating process.
• Collaborate with operations, project managers, and technical teams to validate assumptions and ensure constructability.
• Participate in bid reviews, strategy meetings, and client discussions as required.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, unit rates, and historical cost information.
• Support project handover to operations, ensuring clear communication of scope, inclusions, and exclusions.
• Stay current with market conditions, material pricing, labour trends, and industry best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and instrumentation, particularly within agriculture and process environments.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications with a high level of accuracy.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and ability to assess project risk and profitability.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
• 3–7+ years of experience in industrial electrical estimating, preferably within agriculture, food processing, or similar process-driven industries.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and instrumentation systems in an industrial setting is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of construction practices, contracts, and project delivery methods.
• Experience working with estimating software and ERP/project management systems is an asset.
• Journeyperson Electrician certification or related trade background is considered a strong asset.

Required Experience

• 3–7+ years of experience in industrial electrical estimating, preferably within agriculture, food processing, or similar process-driven industries.
