Intermediate Project Managers for a full-time, 2-year temporary contract based in Ottawa, ON. This opportunity is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong background in project management, equipment acquisition, and government projects, looking to contribute to high-impact initiatives.
As an Intermediate Project Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring project design, implementation, and operational startup against established goals, milestones, and deliverables. You will coordinate documentation, manage project plans, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives. Your work will directly support the successful execution of capital equipment acquisition projects for the Government of Canada.
- Pay Rate: $85,000 - $125,000
- Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2-year contract)
- Location: Ottawa, ON (100% onsite)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday
- Must have Secret Level II Clearance
Responsibilities:Scope of Work:- Monitor project design, implementation, and operational startup against established goals, milestones, and deliverables
- Coordinate and prepare documentation and formal project reports for scheduled and unscheduled updates, including briefing management on progress, concerns, and status
- Formulate and manage project plans by identifying key milestones, reviewing progress, managing risks, and implementing control and reporting procedures
- Meet with stakeholders and other project managers to identify and resolve problems and ensure alignment with project goals
- Conduct post-project reviews and lessons learned to improve future project execution
- Contribute to strategic and business planning initiatives, including development of organizational vision and mission
- Ensure project requirements conform to approved international standards and support the Project Approval Process (PAP) through all stages
- Participate in project-related research and development initiatives, including Operational Research, Technology Demonstration Programs, Advanced Research Programs, and Technology Advisory Groups
Tasks:- Develop and manage project documentation and plans
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
- Monitor project progress and address potential risks or delays
- Contribute to reports, business cases, and strategic planning initiatives
- Support capital equipment acquisition processes in accordance with government standards
Requirements and Qualifications:- Must have Secret Level II Clearance
- Ability to obtain Controlled Goods process prior to start
- Undergraduate engineering degree from a recognized Canadian university, college, or equivalent
- Co-authorship of at least one Statement of Operational Requirements (SOR) for a capital equipment acquisition project within the last 120 months
- Minimum 24 months combined experience at a supervisory level working in a project environment related to equipment acquisition for the Government of Canada
- Certification(s)/Degree(s) such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), or Canadian Army Technical Staff Officer (ATSO) Course
- Main author of one or more project documents (Strategic Context Document, Business Case Analysis, Project Charter, Statement of Operational Requirements, Request for Information, or Request for Proposal) for a capital equipment acquisition project within the last 120 months
- Experience working in or with DND, PSPC, ISED, RCMP, or CBSA on capital equipment acquisition projects within the last 60 months
- Experience working on or with the Canadian Armed Forces on capital equipment acquisition projects within the last 120 months
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently in a structured environment
