Director, Financial Systems

Role Impact :

The Director, Financial Systems owns and leads our Finance ERP and Procurement systems responsible for the enhancements, maintenance, and future implementations of these systems.

This role will also lead the Finance automation program including overseeing robotic process automation (RPA) program on behalf of the Finance team.

This role will provide thought leadership with respect to Finance Technology and trends to recommend and champion digital initiatives, automation opportunities and leading finance technology as it relates to CF’s ERP system and other technology solutions.

To provide full cycle support to Finance and its business partners, this role will act as the change leader for process redesign and / or optimization initiatives as a result of new finance system implementations.

What you will deliver :

• Responsible for the identification and implementation of the latest finance technology industry practices. Includes researching and developing a roadmap of future initiatives and programs that will bring leading technology to support and improve Cadillac Fairview’s capabilities.
• Function as a subject matter expert and owner of Cadillac Fairview’s ERP system for modules related to general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, construction management, forecast manager and investment manager as well as all future modules.
• Lead the intake program as it relates to Financial Systems which includes leading the working committee to review and prioritize all requests for new software, enhancements to the ERP systems, robotic process automation, business intelligence, reports, or projects on the behalf of Finance.

The role will interface / partner with the Data & Technology team managing and making decisions on these projects and tasks as they are designed, developed, evaluated, and rolled out.

• Function as a decision maker and subject matter expert for Cadillac Fairview’s procurement system including recommendations on process changes, process controls, and reporting requirements.
• Lead the finance automation program on the behalf of the Finance department, including identification, prioritization and evaluation of user cases and work with the Data & Technology team in enabling technology such as robotic process automation, artificial intelligence, and enhanced ERP functionality.
• Lead the life cycle of projects from initiation to deployment. Ensures related policies / procedures are current and support new programs or enhancements and are in accordance with company policies and requirements.

Conduct change assessments to determine impact of change in definition to ensure key controls over financial systems are operating effectively for Head Office Finance functions.

Provide updates to Senior Leadership and Finance on status of projects.

• Lead and provide direction on the Data Analytics Operating Model that supports Finance and Operations Services. Includes the decision making on the priorities as well as decisions on the KPIs that will be presented in various dashboards.
• Preparation of annual Audit Committee report related to third party / consultant spend across all of Cadillac Fairview.
• Function as a data lead as part of the Steering Committee with regards to the implementation and ongoing support of the Data Governance program.
• Responsible for the development of budget / costing information for Financial Systems and RPA program that is funded by the D&T team or Operations Services (depending on planned activities).

What you need to succeed :

• University degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or Commerce
• Professional accreditation CPA or equivalent preferred
• Minimum - years of progressive experience in financial systems management (Yardi would be considered a strong asset) with responsibility for strategic planning and project implementation
• Minimum - years supervisory experience of people and complex projects
• Demonstrated experience in robotic process automation, machine learning and SQL
• Solid finance operations knowledge to translate domain understanding and connect business needs into technical requirements and system capabilities
• Accounting and real estate background with comprehension of financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and operational analyses including leasing activity, occupancy an asset
• Good understanding of data management, analytics, and business intelligence concepts and tools
• Good working knowledge of data manipulation and management tools
