Job description :
The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is critical to the delivery of financial information on a timely basis.
Candidates must possess strong organization and analytical skills in a position that is very detail oriented. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate clearly and concisely with various internal departments as well as external stakeholders.
This is a deadline driven role and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment are a must-have.
Responsibilities include :
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
- Assist in the preparation of income statement reporting and analysis
- Take ownership of and complete monthly accounting entries in areas such as prepaids, accruals, payroll, revenue, fixed assets etc.
- Prepare and maintain financial records and working papers in support of transactions
- Assist in the month-end accounting close process
- Collaborate with team and other departments on various finance projects
- Monitor banking activities for multiple entities to find irregularities and process appropriate journal entries
- Provide audit support
- Support government funding accounting as needed
- Ad-hoc accounting duties as assigned
Qualifications required :
- Graduated from an accredited university with a degree in accounting or finance
- 2-4 years plus of experience working in a similar accounting role
- Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience working with ERP software. Knowledge of NetSuite and ADP is an asset
- Enjoys fast-paced work environment; able to multi-task while working with tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate initiative and a high degree of accuracy in executing tasks; and
- Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.
