Senior Manager, Property Technology (Research & Development)

Role Impact :

The Senior Manager, Property Technology (Research & Development), reporting into the Director, Property Technology, will play an integral leadership role in successful planning, deployment and sustainment of national programs related to Property Technology and Digital Applications across CF’s real estate portfolio.

The objective of these programs will be to research new property technology opportunities, leading to the development of pilot programs and business case acceptance;

all while enhancing client experience, brand recognition, achievement of operational efficiencies, contributing to CF’s overall business strategy and growth into various asset classes.

  • This role is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the Property Technology roadmap by identifying, prioritizing, and leading the deployment of proof of concept (PoC) and pilot projects driven by primary and secondary research;
  • engagement of multiple stakeholder groups to identify and validate business needs; acting as a product owner to define tactical and strategic development opportunities;

being responsible for all aspects of the research and development of all property technology programs leading to execution across CF’s buildings.

What you will deliver :

  • Assist the Director, Property Technology with creating action plans to drive CF’s overall approach to property technology prioritized through a strategic roadmap aligned with all CF strategies and stakeholder prioritization, while successfully planning execution, and sustainment of property technology-driven mixed-use real estate application delivery across CF’s portfolios.
  • Oversee the integration of primary and secondary research sources and business insights into CF’s property technology roadmap, to align the latest innovations and emerging trends in property technology with CF’s organizational objectives.
  • Engage regularly with internal stakeholder groups to identify opportunities for supporting departmental objectives through property technology-driven process optimization, actionable data & insights, and or digital services;

continuously evolve CF’s property technology roadmap based on the changing needs of the organization.

Plan and lead the execution of property technology proof of concept (PoC) and pilot programs; continuously evaluate program success, provide recommendations to drive adoption;

and contribute to successful execution of Property Technology roadmap.

  • Drive and own the development of property technology / digital applications product roadmaps including definition of business and technical requirements and integrated solutions all the way from planning through to sustainment.
  • Demonstrate leadership in collaborating with the Digital Applications Manager to design innovative, client-centric property technology / digital applications in commercial real-estate portfolios including but not limited to occupant experience applications, visitor management and delivery management systems, parking services, client service request management, health & wellness, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Property Technology Business Analyst to translate cross-functional stakeholder needs into viable products and innovative services.

Understand internal and external client needs, define innovative use cases, coordinate development of various customer-facing applications from proof of concept to successful national launch.

  • In collaboration with Senior Manager, Property Technology (Sustainment) and Senior Project Manager, Property Technology (Deployment), engage stakeholders and technology vendors to ensure the effective property technology pilot to business case process, while also collaborating effectively with multiple CF departments and their clients.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Property Technology (Sustainment), evaluate property technology pilots to determine areas of improvement and recommendations for improved adoption.
  • Coordinate test & learn activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to provide support for property operations teams to overcome various business challenges, eliminate barriers, and manage multiple priorities through the strategic application of property technology.
  • Translate property technology performance insights into viable business intelligence and present findings to the management.

What you need to succeed :

  • Post-secondary education in Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • years direct experience with Property Technology strategies and applications
  • years of experience as a lead in business technology management, product and / or program management, or related fields preferred.
  • years of proven track record in designing, deploying, and sustaining Operating Technology (OT), IoT applications / Digital Apps and / or innovative business technologies.
  • Experience in technology & systems deployment in new construction and existing built environments
  • Project management experience and reporting skills, specific to buildings, an asset
  • Detailed understanding of the construction & development process, an asset
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, security, and building controls systems
  • Experience with IP networking deployment and construction in operational technology (OT) environments
  • Experience with systems integration and commissioning
  • Detailed understanding of commercial real-estate operating requirements
  • Prior experience in co-creating solutions with technology vendors and managing app life cycle in a similar environment will be a plus.
