Job description
We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a not-for-profit organization in Ottawa, Ontario. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and hands-on experience working with Sage 50 and Bamboo. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate records, process financial transactions efficiently, and contribute to the smooth administration of accounting activities.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper supporting documentation before processing
• Enter payable transactions into the accounting system and assign the correct general ledger coding
• Prepare and record bank deposits while ensuring all receipts are documented appropriately
• Maintain organized financial files and ensure accounting records are kept up to date and accessible
• Reconcile corporate credit card activity and investigate discrepancies in a timely manner
• Perform regular bank account reconciliations to confirm balances and resolve outstanding items
• Prepare and submit pension contribution information in accordance with reporting deadlines
• Assist with accounts payable administration and payment processing to support timely vendor remittance
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting support or accounting assistant role
• Proven hands-on experience using Sage 50 and Bamboo in a detail-focused setting
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, accounts payable, and account reconciliation activities
• Experience working with accounting software systems and financial platforms such as ADP, CaseWare, Concur, or ERP systems
• Ability to code transactions accurately and maintain a high level of attention to detail
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset when working with internal and external contacts
