Job Title : Senior Manager Marketing & Communications

Classification : Permanent Full-time

Reports to : Chief Operating Officer

Location : Toronto (Downtown) - 130 King Street West.

Organization

The Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) is the national professional organization for Property &

Casualty insurance brokers in Canada. We are comprised of 11 Member Associations that span across

Canada. Our National Mandate Functions include :

  • Federal government advocacy and political action;
  • National professional development and education programs;
  • Technology advancements benefiting property and casualty insurance brokers;

National advertising campaigns and the Broker Identity Program.

Job Outline

The Senior Manager-Marketing and Communication will support IBAC with all its marketing and communication needs across our four pillars.

You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing strategic marketing initiatives that align with our organizational goals.

This role requires a blend of project management expertise, creative thinking, and a deep understanding of marketing and communication strategies.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, executive level stakeholders and various external partners, to ensure that all marketing projects are delivered on time within scope, and budget.

This is an exciting time to join the IBAC team! We are undergoing a transformation, and there will be opportunities for growth within this role.

We have a hybrid work arrangement, requiring two days a week of which Wednesday is mandatory in the office at our downtown location.

Principle Responsibilities :

1. Develop, manage, and track comprehensive marketing programs and campaigns, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

2. Oversee the execution of marketing and communication strategies, including digital marketing, content creation, social media, and public relations.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and French.

4. Proven experience as a writer, with strong portfolio writing published articles, news releases, newsletters, booklets, and annual reports.

5. Coordinate with internal team and external partners to deliver high-quality marketing materials and communications.

6. Track and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.

7. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring all deliverables are met according to plan.

8. Lead and facilitate meetings, providing clear communication on project status and progress to stakeholders.

9. Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to keep projects on track.

10. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to drive innovation within the marketing team.

11. Ability to generate original ideas and angles for industry articles that captivate and engage the audience.

12. Providing effective presentations, including to the the Board of Directors.

13. Exceptional stakeholder management capability. Serving as a liaison between third party entities, partners, member associations, SME’s, executive leadership and internal team.

14. The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.

15. Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

16. Possess a great sense of urgency and be proactive.

17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

1. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

2. 7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or project management, preferably in a B2B or B2C environment. Experience in the insurance industry is considered an asset.

3. Proven track record of managing complex marketing projects from conception through completion.

4. Strong understanding of digital marketing, content strategy, and brand management.

5. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

7. Proficiency with marketing automation tools, project management software, and data analytics platforms.

8. Work with our marketing agency to develop and execute on our national advertising strategy and program content (e.g. TV commercials, digital creative, etc.)

9. Update and maintain IBAC main website along with other IBAC owned websites like IBAC Tech.

10. Strong customer service orientation and the demonstrated ability to interact effectively with co-workers and association members.

11. Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities.

12. Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude, with a focus on continuous improvement.

13. Self-motivated, fast learner with a can-do attitude.

14. Great follow through skills.

15. Tech-savvy, with strong capability in Marketing automation tools, social media and data analytics platforms.

16. A team player that can collaborate effectively as well as work independently.

17. Have a strong work ethic.

Required Skills :

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong command of both English and French. Expertise in social media management tool eg. Hootsuite

Proficiency in Marketing, automation and email tools like Mailchimp, Constant Contact.

Proficiency using WordPress, specifically knowledge in updating and managing websites.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics

High Proficiency in social media channel management : , X, Instagram, Facebook

Expertise with Project Management tools, preferably in Trello.

Proficiency in Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

High Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
