Position Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems in line with IATF 16949:2016. The role is pivotal in the Continual Improvement activities pertaining to the quality function within the business and is critical in maintaining sound customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage supplier quality performance including but not limited to maintain and update the supplier approval list, supplier compliance to Ampco supplier quality requirements, suppliers’ qualification, evaluation and development.
  • Manage supplier corrective actions in the event of material nonconformity and promote continual improvement.
  • Manage and evaluate supplier PPAP and provide technical support to suppliers.
  • Preparing, monitoring and analyzing all the QMS KPIs.
  • Develop KPIs dashboards for all the QMS process.
  • Control and maintain the quality management system documentation system.
  • Apply appropriate use of statistical techniques and perform statistical studies to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the equipment calibration and conduct the tools/equipment MSA.
  • Perform the UL and CSA audit, communicate with external auditors, maintain the audit records, and follow up to solve the non-conformities.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with IATF and IS014001 internal audit.
  • Provide support with NCs, identifying root causes of problems in the production process; recommend and/or implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all projects assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Any other tasks or projects as assigned.

What You Bring to Ampco:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years quality experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Quality Engineering designation ASQ CQE or VDA 6.3 auditor is preferred.
  • In depth knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 (Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA).
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection techniques as well as understanding of GD&T principles.
  • Strong communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Find ways to streamline processes.
  • Patience, with the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize a busy workload.
  • Highly organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Work well in a team and build strong working relationships with the departments your role interacts with.
  • Be pro-active and solutions focused.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook and data management.
  • Excellent work ethic, self–motivated and driven.

  • Pay Range: The typical hiring range for this position is from $60,000 - $80,000 annually; the base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
