About the Client
The Senior Tax Consultant (18-month contract) will be responsible for managing and executing tax compliance and tax provision functions.
The role is split between 50% tax compliance duties and 50% tax provision work (preparing and reviewing quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740).
You will collaborate with clients, senior team members, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and compliance while helping to manage tax risks and optimize tax strategies.
About the Opportunity
Tax Compliance (50%)
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and other entities
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, keeping up to date with any legislative changes that may impact clients' tax positions
- Review supporting schedules and workpapers to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Assist clients with tax planning opportunities and provide advisory services in tax compliance matters Tax Provision (50%)
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740 (Income Taxes)
- Analyze and reconcile tax accounts, deferred taxes, and uncertain tax positions
- Collaborate with the finance and accounting teams to gather necessary financial data for provision calculations
- Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with tax provision requirements
- Review and advise on effective tax rate projections, tax adjustments, and tax forecasts
- Support the preparation of tax disclosures in financial statements and footnotes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
About You
- CPA designated
- 5+ years of tax related experience - at the experienced manager level at a minimum
- Solid experience with tax provisions and Canadian tax compliance
- Comfortable working in a hands on role (no direct reports)
