Transdev is hiring a Health & Safety Coordinator to be located in Ottawa.
Your Role :
Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager, the Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring our high level of health and safety standards are met by maintaining an in-depth knowledge of Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Transportation standards including other all other legislative bodies, in addition to having an in-depth knowledge of Transdev’s Global Policies and Procedures.
This role provides direction, support and guidance to all managers, supervisors and employees regarding safety issues or concerns and the successful candidate must be able to travel within Eastern and Northern Ontario.
Primary Responsibilities
Compliance
- Ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager with developing and implementing policies as a result of changing legislation or identified trends
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code
- Supports Local JHSC meetings / initiatives and programs. Ensures company Contractor compliance
Audits
Ensure-monthly field audits are completed at each of the locations including facility and field audits, truck audits, etc.
Participate with audits as frequently as possible
- Follow up with any employee complaints related to health and safety and communicate back to the Health and Safety Manager
- Completes scorecards monthly for all locations / divisions
WSIB
- Assist the Health and Safety Manager with claims from start to completion; liaison with WSIB case manager to ensure all paperwork and employee updates are completed and submitted on a timely basis
- Organize and enter all WSIB documentation into spreadsheet
- Complete trending related to injury statistics and communicate to management
Incident & Collision Analysis & Reporting
- Ensures incident and collision reporting is complete and reported in a timely fashion; establishes appropriate follow-up
- Enter all collision and incident reports into analysis and assist with identifying trends in recent incidents and collisions
Requirements
Your Profile :
- You posses a University / College Degree or Equivalent education
- You bring minimum 1 -2 years relevant expereince
- Your experience working in the transportation industry would be preferred
- You bring excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- You posses effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
- You are available to work flexible hours if required for audits
- You have to ability to travel throughout Eastern and Northern Ontario
- You posses strong knowledge in all Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- You posses a minimum full G drivers licence
- You posses a clean Drivers Abstract and Criminal Record Search with Vulnerable Sector
- You have proven excellent customer service experience
- You have strong planning and time management skills and the ability to effectively handle a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Your Occupational Health and Safety Certification or working towards this, would be a strong asset
- Your JHSC Certification or expereince would be an asset
- You bring First aid, CPR or any other relevant medical training
- Your In-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law : Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, etc would be an asset
