What You’ll Do
- Design of engineering infrastructure including, but not limited to, dikes, erosion protection, fish habitat enhancement, bioengineering, dams, intakes, and hazard mitigation structures.
- Develop specifications, cost estimates, and work with CADD technician to produce design drawings.
- Inspect flood and erosion hazards and infrastructure, including construction inspection and hydrometric work.
- Hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and computer modelling for water resources projects using HEC-RAS (1D / 2D), and other modelling tools.
- Optimization of reservoir operations.
- Assesses climate change impact to engineering infrastructure.
- Produce river floodplain maps and complete flood risk assessments.
- Project reporting and documentation.
- Prepare scope, schedule, and engineering cost estimates for proposals.
What You’ll Bring
- A positive and motivated personality!
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Water Resources, Environmental, Civil or a related engineering field
- 0-2 years of experience
- Background in water resources, stormwater, hydrology / hydraulics
- E.I.T. or eligibility for professional licensing with EGBC
- Familiarity with HEC-RAS (1D / 2D) and GIS
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enjoy working on challenging engineering projects
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- You must have a class 5 B.C. Driver’s License
- Additional bonus assets include : Experience in consulting engineering or related work experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and be able to work with team members in a multi-disciplinary environment
- A desire to learn new skills and an eagerness to grow within your role
- Must be physically able to conduct field visits commensurate with project work. This may include handling and operation of equipment, travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, and outdoor site visits in all weather conditions on uneven / varying ground terrain
