As a database developer in the Credit360 team, you will participate in all aspects of the software delivery life cycle to deliver high demand services for the bank's credit adjudication / decisioning platform.
This role is for a PostgreSQL database developer who can design and create the flexible & scalable database structures required to support new functionality, as well as performing ongoing business as usual maintainainence and optimisation of existing functionality.
The role will also be deeply involved in the analysis, planning and execution of large one-time data migrations to move data into Credit360 as we increase the number of users of the application.
The successful candidate will need to be 'wall crossed' to the private side and will be subject to the Scotiabank Personal Dealing Policy.
The role will allow the candidate to develop an understanding of business systems and the credit adjudication business flow.
The successful candidate will also work closely with the rest of the Credit360 application team, as well as other internal groups including enterprise production support teams and business users in order to maintain support and generate new services.
Key Accountabilities :
- Design and implement database changes (schema, queries, optimisations) to suppport new and existing functionalty and features, consistent with the existing Credit360 data model
- Ensure ongoing maintanence and optimisation of the Credit360 database
- Work with busiess and technology teams to plan and execute large data migraitons of data from existing applications into Credit360.
- Provide technical leadership to teammates.
- Conduct periodic reviews of productionalized IT processes to identify streamlining opportunities and promote continuous process improvement methodologies.
- Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
- Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain Credit360.
- Work with Scotiabank infrastructure teams to maintain and support infrastructure and services.
- Support production issues and handle escalations during the day as well as off-hours.
Skills, Experiences, and Functional Competencies :
- Must have at least 5-7 years of database design and maintainence using PostgreSQL.
- Technical working experience in application programming, system analysis, design, unit testing and debugging
- Technical working experience in an Agile environment
- Technical working experience (back end) with SOAP and RESTful Web Services, Server-side language (Java, SQL), Unit Testing (Junit), Postgres Database, Operating Systems (Linux Redhat, Solaris, Windows), Tools (Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, BitBucket, SonarQube, GIT).
- Must have working experience in the use of Jenkins or similar tool(s) for building Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI / CD) pipelines
- Must have excellent communication (verbal / written) skills in English in order to communicate efficiently and effectively with the different stakeholders
- Must have experience in Unit Testing, such as familiarity with JUnit / Jest, Mockito / Mocha etc.
- Must be proficient in Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI / CD) pipelines (e.g., Jira, Jenkins, Gradle, Bitbucket, Artifactory etc.).
- Have competency to work effectively team members with differing opinions and levels of experience.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, engineering or a technology related discipline.
