About the Role
The Area Leader is responsible for managing the Team Members in the performance of their duties focusing on safety, people, quality, productivity and all company / regulatory policies and procedures.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of purchasing and supplier development activities (ie. RFQ, Bidding, Supplier Audits, Legal and negotiation process, sourcing decisions) of the team member
- Support new business development pre and post-acquisition activities
- Investigates Purchasing problems and difficulties, develops solutions to rectify problems and implements solutions
- Continuous improvement to the Purchasing function as well as systems
- Prepares reports, cost studies and make recommendations for potential opportunities or risks
- Monitors the activities of subordinates and the work area to ensure that proper Purchasing procedures are being followed
- Develop Team Members through coaching and mentoring
- Establish and maintain effective communications with all Departments.
- Participate in manpower planning and recruiting
- Promote accountability through application of the progressive discipline policy
- Provide formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members
- Monitor, track and improve upon key indicators.
- Ensure training needs are identified and meet for Team Members
- Cross train Team Members to maximize flexibility supporting SPQP
- Conduct accident / incident investigations
- Implement corrective actions for Safety, Quality and all other audits
- Lead Team Members in accordance with the principles of the Magna Employee’s Charter and the policies and procedures set out in the Company Handbook and Company Credo.
- Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements as they relate to this job function.
- Complete daily layered audits to include safety, standardized work, housekeeping, 5S, and Quality inspection reports.
- Plan and direct the efficient utilization of all manpower.
- Facilitate meetings
- Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. IATF 16949)
- Understand, promote and live by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter
- Adhere to Modatek’s core values; integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
- Perform other duties as required
Who we are looking for
- Post-Secondary Degree in Business Administration or Materials Management
- Previous leadership experience in automotive or related manufacturing industry
- Minimum five years supply chain or related experience
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong understanding of contract language
- Prior experience with supplier Advanced Product Quality Planning process
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, SAP,Q Pulse, Internet)
- Familiar with all aspects of purchasing within Modatek System
- Eligible to travel outside of Canada with a required valid passport
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
- Ability to uphold confidentiality
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
