Position Summary :

Reporting to the Director of Resident Care, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative support to the nursing department and assisting nursing staff with providing safe personal care.

Main Duties :

• Assist with feeding residents during breakfast and lunch times;
• Participate in the Quality Management Program through data collection and analysis;
• Conduct research on various current health topics and assist with the coordination of educational presentations;
• Organize the Staff Resource Centre by rearranging and updating educational materials;
• Update inventory list as directed;
• Provide administrative support such as recording minutes, creating forms in both English and Chinese, etc.;
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications :

• Current enrolment in a post-secondary Nursing or other health care related program in a recognized University / College;
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
• Career-related work experience;
• Experience working with seniors an asset;
• Proficient in English and Chinese is preferred.

Other Requirements :

All summer student positions are funded to promote employment opportunities for students, thus the duration of these positions are subject to funding approval.

To be eligible for the program, job applicants should meet the following criteria :

• Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
• Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of the employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant or territorial legislation and regulations.
