Job Summary :

Baycrest offers a full spectrum of out-patient clinics and specialist services from dental, hearing, chiropody foot care, cardiology, ear, nose & throat care, cardiology, urology, dermatology, eye care, all conveniently located on one campus of care.

This position provides nursing care in the Ambulatory Medical Specialty Clinics. Be a part of 16 different physician and nurse-led specialist clinics e.

g. ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Wound Care, Cardiology and more.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provides sound clinical knowledge and skills, acts as clinical expert and resource and provides comprehensive, quality client / family centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge
  • Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications, as well as treatments which fall within the RN’s scope of practice
  • Provides client-centred care within interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients
  • Ensures that each specialty clinic functions smoothly as part of an inter-professional team (physician, RPN, PSW, Admin.)
  • Work closely with medical speciality physicians to establish plan of care for patients

Qualifications include but are not limited to :

  • Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario ( CNO’) is required
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support ( BCLS’) certificate, Level C - Automated External Device ( AED’) is required
  • BScN required, Masters preferred
  • Experience in working in a busy clinic environment,
  • Knowledge and experience working with people with memory disorders and dementia care required
  • Highly developed clinical assessment skills of clients with complex medical, cognitive and social required
  • Knowledge of brain anatomy and physiology
  • Psychogeriatric experience, including memory assessment and intervention in working with responsive behaviours required
  • Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for clients and families
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Computer skills Meditech, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
