The Program Manager, Apprenticeship will oversee a national initiative aimed at strengthening Canada's electricity sector apprenticeship system. This role involves managing programs that promote competency transfer, training, and development, with a focus on innovative approaches to improve apprentice retention. The Program Manager will work closely with a small team to build stakeholder relationships and drive solutions that enhance apprenticeship outcomes across the Canadian electricity industry.
The Program Manager will report directly to the Director of Programs and will be accountable for the successful delivery and execution of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute project plans aligned with funding agreements and workplans, ensuring timely, budget-friendly, and quality deliverables
- Stay updated on trends, policy changes, and industry developments in Canada's apprenticeship system through various resources, such as industry newsletters and associations, workforce development, and electricity sector, and communicate relevant updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Represent EHRC at various levels and with other organizations as needed
- Lead national steering committee meetings and focus groups, and provide support to members
- Build relationships with key stakeholders who support apprenticeship initiatives, including electrical contractors and unions
- Analyze project requirements, manage schedules, mitigate risks, and prepare progress and financial reports
- Collaborate with various teams to achieve project objectives
- Oversee consultant procurement and manage contractor relationships
- Develop performance measurement strategies to evaluate program effectiveness
- Contribute to identifying and securing new funding sources for labour market initiatives
- Perform other duties as required by the organization
Education, Experience and Skills
University degree in Social Sciences, Education, Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience3-5 years of experience managing social science, training, or labor market intervention programsSuccessful stakeholder engagement experience, with ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholdersProject management experience (PMP designation an asset) with a demonstration of project completion on time and within budgetStrong English communication, facilitation, and collaboration skillsProven partnership development experience is idealAbility to present to external audiencesProficient in MS Office, and CRM platformsKnowledge of workforce development, competency development, and training (asset)Experience with federally and provincially funded projects (asset)Experience working in the apprenticeship sector (directly or indirectly) would be a significant assetCritical thinking skills and solutions-oriented mindsetSelf-starter with initiativeOccasional travel across Canada requiredWork Environment and Compensation
