About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager to join our Finance team. The Senior Manager, Finance will manage all related accounting functions to ensure all transactions are processed and recorded in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Government policies, guidelines, and legislation.

The Senior Manager, Finance will seek to implement and continuously improve operational accounting processes and drive consistency of financial reporting at the OCS.

The Senior Manager, Finance will support the Director, Finance in leading operational accounting projects and initiatives within the retail and wholesale business of the OCS.

They will act as an advisor to management with respect to current and proposed business activities, financial analysis tools and methodologies to be utilized by OCS.

About Your Day

  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all corporate accounting functions and financial information.
  • Oversee the Treasury and Revenue, or Accounts Payable and Inventory functions of the corporation.
  • Control and maintain adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and IFRS and established procedures, practice, and standards.
  • Manage the reconciliation of General Ledger Accounts, reviewing for accuracy, account balance issues, aging issues and take appropriate action to clear outstanding balances and resolve issues.
  • Ensure that the OCS corporate accounting policies and practices comply with legislated requirements and the requirements of the Office of the Auditor General.
  • Manage the period end process by ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of journal entries and interfaces.
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting and prepare corporate financial statement package for senior management in compliance with GAAP and established processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Act as a key contact for auditors and ensure relevant information is provided.
  • Maintain and analyze financial issues and develop business recommendations for senior management, internal and external auditors.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze specialized and / or ad-hoc reports.
  • Identify recurring trends and provide recommendations.
  • Work cross-functionally to support and advise on key growth initiatives, business case development, and financial modeling.
  • Participate in ensuring continuous improvement by identifying and recommending redesigned systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and streamline operational practices.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of strategic KPIs, by working with other business units to collect, analyze and interpret internal financial and operational data.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and completeness of audit deliverables.
  • In conjunction with HR, hire, develop and inspire a highly qualified team of professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, and accountability within the department and throughout the OCS.
  • Ensure that the team has the competence and skills to execute business-critical projects by partnering with L&D to create learning plans.

About You

  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education in Finance, Accounting, or related field of study.
  • 7-10 years of finance or accounting experience with progressive responsibility.
  • Experience with operational and strategic planning.
  • 3-4 years of finance leadership experience is preferred.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience; Dynamics 365 is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Designation or related accounting designation Charted Accountant (CA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) in good standing.
  • Strong analytical skills used to convert detailed and complex information into meaningful business recommendations and insights.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization to develop superior working relationships.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel.

About the Job

This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule. The current in-office requirement is a minimum of 3 days / week (may be more depending on business needs).

The OCS office is located near York Mills and Yonge Street. However, OCS reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000. This is a pay grade 8 role, with a salary range of $93,757.

39 - $145,670.28. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
