Accounts Payable Specialist - 4 Month Contract

About the Opportunity

• Process outgoing payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, and recording accounts payable data
• Reconcile the accounts payable ledger to ensure that all bills and payments are accounted for and properly posted
• Verify and investigate discrepancies, if any, by reconciling vendor accounts and monthly vendor statements
• Facilitate payment of invoices due by sending bill reminders and contacting clients
• Generate reports detailing accounts payables status
• Understands compliance issues around accounts payable processes
• Monitoring monthly Aging and reconcile subledger general balances
• Prepare month end accruals and process and reconcile prepayments accounts
• Adhere specific controls in vendor creations and payments
• Support General Accounting on ad hoc basis About You
• 5+ years’ proven working experience as Accounts Payable
• Understands basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
• Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset
• Proficiency in MS Suite
• Ability to work in fast-paced environment
• Dependable and accountable, works closely with peers on solving discrepancies
• Strong communication skills : ability to communicate information clearly
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail, fast learner, and quick thinker
• Strong Data Entry skills and attention to detail
• Relevant Diploma in Accounting
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

Hourly Rate

$24 - $25 / hour
