Digital Communications Officer for provincial government agency client, North York.

Marberg Job Number : 2468.

Job Type : ​Temporary​.

Initial Term :  ASAP to July 3 2025.

Target Compensation :  From $30 per hour to $37+ per hour, with flexibility according to experience.

Regular Work Hours : FULL TIME WORK HOURS; 7.25 work hours per day, not including .75 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday-Friday (36.25 work hours per week).

Work Location : 100% onsite at client’s North York office, accessible by bus and free parking provided.

Position Reports to : Manager, Strategic Communications

Responsibilities Summary :

Manage two website platforms in support of large-scale project, working closely with stakeholders to ensure digital content is clear and updated, aligned with operational processes and legislative requirements, and technically functional.

  • Develop digital content and ensure rollout is consistent, clear and adheres to relevant policies supporting broad user accessibility, including French Language Services Act and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Act as internal advisor on digital content and website administration best practices, ensuring compliance with Ontario Public Service requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical and communications teams to identify, document, implement and test website fixes and improvements.
  • Develop and implement digital communication plans with identified timelines and outcomes.
  • Report on website analytics statistics to senior agency staff member and maintain a clear record of website procedures.
  • Additional digital and corporate communications responsibilities as required.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (communications, web development, etc.).

Preferred Work Experience : 2+ years of work experience in communications, web development, website administration or similar position.

Sector Experience : Demonstrated experience in website content management is required for this position.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Office 365 and SharePoint), and analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity).
  • Sound understanding of WCAG guidelines and best practices.
  • Demonstrated significant experience managing back-end website content and troubleshooting fixes is required.
  • Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken, to effectively liaise with stakeholders for the development of clear and effective digital communications across multiple public-facing channels.
  • Strong tact and well-developed negotiation skills to manage conflicting priorities and provide fast paced, large scale strategic communications in a time sensitive manner.
  • Exceptional self-motivation, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to independently work on high level projects with strong accuracy and time sensitivity.
  • Familiarity with the application of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), or in a role that included monitoring websites for digital accessibility.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organizational policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work ​both remotely and onsite as required​, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References.
