Human Resources Generalist (20-month contract) - Vancity Community Foundation

A typical day would involve :

  • Liaise with People and Equity at Vancity to support all Human Resources functions at the foundation.
  • Support the foundation with human resources functions including recruitment through inclusive practices, training, advising, engagement, performance management, and coaching.

They will provide guidance and support with moving forward HR functions and interpretation of policies.

  • Develop human resources material including manuals, policies, procedures and training and development tools.
  • Collaboratively work with Senior Leadership to identify and resolve challenges, conflict or other HR related issues that may arise.

They will put forth and develop policies, procedures and efficiencies to ensure the Foundation is able to meet HR needs.

They will support administrative tasks associated with Human Resources for the Foundation including inquiries from staff, communication (HR-related), and review of all documentation.

We are looking for someone who :

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and / or training
  • Has an HR designation or working towards HR designation
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures

Plus you have :

  • The ability to implement and administer employee policies
  • Familiarity with the not for profit sector
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability for diligent record keeping, with a strong attention to detail
  • The knowledge and experience of applying reconciliation, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion principles to their work
