Who you are

We are looking for an HR Assistant to join our HR team on a 4-month contract. This is a remote role with potential to go into the closest Motion location for cross training purposes, if required. Reporting to the People Operations Specialist and working closely with the People & Culture team, you will support service excellence in the areas of answering employee inquiries, system administration, and basic reporting. You will be empowered to bring your valuable knowledge and ideas to support special projects as they related to the People / HR function. What you will do

  • Operational Effectiveness . You will support People (HR) functions including onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, general administrative support, and responding to employee inquiries submitted through our Tier 1 support desk. Tier 1 Support may include : providing awareness, promotion and assistance with the implementation of core HR programs and policies.
  • System Maintenance . You will help ensure the accuracy, administration and maintenance of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and other supplementary HR-related systems along with preparing and pulling basic reports.
  • Engaging Communication . In partnership with People & Learning Team Members you will generate clear and engaging communication posts for internal employees on a weekly basis to keep them informed of new programs, policy changes, and other key updates.
  • Special Projects . You will provide support to an exciting variety of People projects, including coordinating with other teams such as payroll, marketing, communications, learning and operations to support the success of the projects.

What you bring

  • Education and experience . You have a degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution in business management, human resources or relevant experience. Knowledge of HR Functions such as onboarding, employee relations, HRIS administration is an asset. Previous experience in an administration and coordination role, with hands-on exposure to data management is an asset.
  • Passion for People. You enjoy supporting people, and understand the importance of confidentiality due to the nature of data being processed by the People team.
  • Communication . You have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and can explain your ideas and thoughts in a variety of ways to get your point across. You are comfortable communicating with various levels within the organization. You are able to work effectively both independently and as a team.
  • Flexibility and organization . You are an expert at juggling multiple tasks and deadlines all while keeping your cool. You can prioritize, manage and organize a myriad of tasks as they come up throughout the day from employee or team members. You can easily change your course of action to address changing needs and requirements while still delivering on deadlines.
  • Technical Skills . You are proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
