Why is this role important?
Under the direction of the Team Lead, UX Research & Design, the User Experience (UX) Designer is responsible for creating digital design solutions that meet user needs and CIHI’s business and technical requirements.
The UX Designer champions a consistent user experience across CIHI’s digital eco-system and ensures the timely delivery of solutions that meet quality expectations and comply with enterprise standards and processes.
What you'll do
1.Contributes to robust, feasible design solutions based on user experience and business needs, while ensuring consistency, usability, findability, accessibility, responsiveness, and bilingualism.
2.Facilitates and supports all phases of the design process, including discovery, design, implementation, testing and release.
3.Supports the design and development of artifacts including user flows, content maps, sitemaps, wireframes, low and high -fidelity mock-ups, prototypes, responsive layouts, and detailed design specifications.
4.Ensures alignment on design solutions through iteration, collaboration, and effective communication.
5.Plans, facilitates, and documents discovery and content mapping sessions with internal business stakeholders and subject matter experts.
6.Produces designs that support CIHI’s digital strategy, design principles, and meet established standards such as CIHI’s Design System and WCAG 2.
7.Contributes to the development and maintenance of relevant interactive user products and services and apply UX design interaction methods, standards, and best practices.
8.Collaborates with UX researchers to review and validate concepts and designs with external target users, when applicable.
9.Performs other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in User Experience / Interaction / Industrial Design, Interactive Media / Arts, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors / Cognitive Psychology, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of related work experience in UX design for interactive products and services.
- Working knowledge of UX tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, and MURAL or Miro.
- Experience with web UX, usability, and interaction design best practices, methods, patterns, and standards, such as WCAG 2.
- A basic understanding of front-end web technologies is an asset (HTML, CSS, front-end web frameworks).
- Experience with UX research and testing methods is an asset.
- Strong skills in facilitation, oral and written communication, organization, and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively, with minimal supervision, as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to work efficiently while producing quality outputs.
- Experience in product development or product life cycles is an asset.
- Experience with data design or data visualization is an asset.
- Fluency in English is required; bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
