About You :

The Business Intelligence Developer is crucial in developing and maintaining the company's BI applications. This role includes mining data for insights, reporting on business performance, and resolving code and data issues.

The individual will play a pivotal role in understanding client needs and supporting business goals through data analytics.

Key aspects of this position include collaboration, innovation, and expertise sharing within the team, focusing on creative problem-solving and effective communication.

In this role, you’ll get to experience :

Data Quality Administration & BI (70%)

  • Aggregate, merge, link, and reshape data for analysis.
  • Conduct data integrity audits.
  • Assist in establishing and managing data structures and management systems.
  • Design, analyze, and maintain the Data Warehouse (DWH).
  • Develop BI reporting tools, visualizations, and applications.
  • Automate recurring data management tasks and reporting for efficiency.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Design, code, and test SQL queries for internal team information.
  • Work with various company data repositories (e.g., Sybase, V9, Aviator, Magenta).
  • Implement cross-team quality control and training.

Analytics & Reporting (30%)

  • Conduct both basic and advanced data analysis to identify trends and patterns.
  • Facilitate analytic work from specification to presentation for solving business problems.
  • Derive business insights from analysis and collaborate on business recommendations.
  • Prepare and present findings to various stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain, and deliver accurate, informative automated reports.
  • Continuously enhance analytical skills and contribute to the data expert community.

Performance Measures

  • Achieve departmental KPIs.
  • Analyze system and operational issues.
  • Follow prescribed software development and maintenance procedures.
  • Generate reports (e.g., census, premiums, claims) from internal platforms.
  • Ensure the data quality through database content and relationship analysis.

What you bring :

  • College / University degree in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, statistics, mathematics) or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and report creation.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services industry is an asset.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data is an asset.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Proficiency in English; and French is beneficial.
  • Willingness for on-call rotation.
  • Expertise in SQL, T-SQL, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, SQL Server, Excel, Integration Services, and Reporting Services.
  • Skilled in relational and multidimensional modeling.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Open to change and innovation.
  • Independent and team-oriented work capability.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines.
  • Desirable : Data mining, understanding of data life cycles, predictive / prescriptive analytics techniques, Python proficiency.

Additional Notes

  • The hours for this position are 9 am-5 pm Monday to Friday.
  • A laptop will be provided
