Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Field Specialist Elevated Guideway and Stations (EGS) Traffic, to join our Infrastructure team, based out of Toronto, ON .

The Field Specialist, EGS Traffic will be responsible for a broad range of construction engineering work across multiple disciplines of the project.

Provide engineering assistance to superintendents, directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality, and assures results meet design requirements and have the opportunity to work on Delivery Partner (DP) role within an integrated team with the customer, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project.

The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by three key PPP Contractors and five advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors.

The EGS area of the Ontario Line project involves the design and construction of 3-Kilometer elevated guideway and five elevated stations.

These elevated stations are primarily in the northern segment of the Ontario Line, connecting various areas including Leslieville, Pape, Cosburn, Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park.

The EGS area includes significant infrastructure such as high-level bridges over Don Valley and interfaces with other transit systems, including the future Eglington Crosstown LRT at Ontario Science Centre.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Overseeing the Parent Company (PCo) works at EGS Traffic, being the Delivery Partner (DP) representative on site.
  • Maintaining high quality daily records of observations and other information gathered including site personnel, materials, equipment, work completed (installed quantities) and issues arising.
  • Reviewing deliverables and other submittals prepared by PCo related to construction or construction support. Identifying non-conformances or other items that require addressing to benefit the project.

Specific focus on Inspection and Test Plans (IPTs).

Overseeing that the PCo works are in accordance with the contract in terms of health, safety, environment, quality, schedule and cost performance.

Identifying and reporting any non-conformances. Specific focus on witness and hold points identified in ITPs.

  • Reporting progress, identifying risks, highlighting emerging issues and escalating to the Project Manager.
  • Providing input to and participating in plans and actions to address non-conformances, avoid or mitigate risks and mitigate emerging issues.
  • Engaging discipline leads for subject matter expertise in health & safety, environment, quality, contracts, project controls and interfaces, implementing direction provided.
  • Building relationships with the PCo site team.
  • Validating progress reports and other data prepared by the DP and PCo against own observations and records.
  • Providing input to the DP progress reports.

Qualifications

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Relevant experience guideline : 5-7 years.
  • Previously held construction supervision role(s) with responsibility for construction of infrastructure of similar scope, size and complexity to a deep underground station on a metro project.
  • Experience of working on infrastructure mega-projects, preferably rail projects in urban areas.
  • Good relationship building and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
