Plumber Fitter

In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Provincial Health Services Authority patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at PHSA, and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

The Plumber Fitter performs installation, repair and preventative maintenance functions to plumbing and building systems.

What you’ll do

  • Installs and repairs plumbing and Building equipment.
  • Maintains hospital equipment such as dishwashers and steamers, laboratory glass washers and drainage systems.
  • Performs a variety of welding jobs. Repairs and calibrates environmental controls for heating and ventilation systems.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on such items as heating and ventilation equipment, stills and humidifiers by inspecting, cleaning, greasing or replacing parts as necessary.
  • Assists other maintenance personnel by performing minor building repairs and servicing as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificate of competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist

  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to organize work.
