Program Manager

About the Job :

The Program Manager is a people person. Their job is to dive deep into our Founder’s company and help them determine their roadmap as they transition and scale their company in Canada.

This includes identifying appropriate goals, gaps, and milestones, and creating ways to hold Founders accountable to their plans.

From the day the Founder is admitted into the Global Entrepreneur Incubation Program to the day they graduate (and even beyond!), the Program Manager is by their side.

The Program Manager is not an expert in all fields of business and does not need to coach Founders on the intricacies of doing business in Canada.

Rather, their job is to build a strong relationship based on trust and mutual goals, help the Founder identify interventions needed from experts, and facilitate introductions and follow throughs.

Further, as the Program Manager walks with the Founder through the Program, they are responsible for collecting data, monitoring immigration process, managing immigration queries and gaining feedback, as well as keeping details records on the above.

At the end of the day, we’re a Founder focused team and the Program Manger is the one driving their experience, learning and development trajectory, and community engagement.

The Program Manager’s responsibilities can be broken down into the following categories :

Founder Journey Management

  • Ensure Founders are engaged and attending planned sessions, networking events and other activities
  • Engage with Founders and plan activities, meetings and events that drive them toward success
  • Lead research for supplementary learning for Founders
  • Assess the Founder’s goals, gaps, and milestones. Act on their behalf to identify and schedule interventions with experts to help them achieve said goals and milestones, including requesting time with Mentors, experts and more
  • Provide high-level feedback on scaling strategies and business plans
  • Follow up with Founders and engage them to ensure programming is addressing learning needs and implemented in a relevant manner
  • Maintain regular communications with Founders and build strong relationships to empower and build trust with clients
  • Send regular newsletters to Founders to maintain institutional communication with the community

Data + Record Management

  • Track and report key successes of Founders through informal discussions, surveys, interview etc
  • Create a framework for measuring economic impacts and Founder status within the program
  • Create and maintain online portal and digital resources for Founders
  • Liaise with Intake Team and Marketing Team to collect and share information and success stories about Founders
  • Conduct a needs analysis of Clients incoming to Programming
  • Coordinate the scheduling of mentors, advisors, founders, and visits
  • Track Founder’s immigration status and provide assistance when needed

General Management Duties

  • Participate and assist in company events, workshops, information sessions, etc.
  • Support event logistics for BHive and other community events
  • Support with process and system implementation
  • Support in data collection and reporting
  • Lead the onboarding of new CRM tool, transitioning day-to-day operations to Zoho
  • Other duties assigned by leadership

About You :

  • College or University degree in business or a similar field of study
  • MBA considered an asset
  • 4-8 years’ experience in business, start-up incubation, VC or Angel funding, consulting or product management role (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of the start-up ecosystem
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment
  • Must be able to multitask and take initiative
  • Experience with business plan creation and assessment
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong organization, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, while working independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Authorized to work in Canada
