Reporting to the HSE Director, the Environmental Lead shall have defined authority for ensuring the day to day implementation of the Works and the Maintenance associated with the Environmental Management Plan.
What you’ll be working on :
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with relevant Internal and External Stakeholders;
- Develop and implement Environmental and Sustainability Management Systems to ensure compliance with ISO certification and regulatory requirements
- Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and correcting any inefficient practices and / or issues of non compliance.
- Management of projects of varying complexity involving soil and groundwater characterization, environmental compliance, environmental management, health and safety management, designated substances and hazardous materials, and remedial system design and implementation
- Ensure environmental issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with the Environmental Approvals and this Project Agreement;
- Support and maintain working relationships with relevant First Nations
- Monitor site activities to ensure environmental compliance;
- Management of personnel and resources
- Tracking costs and managing budgets
- Supervising less experienced staff on a project basis and in some cases, providing technical direction and mentoring
- Promoting team effort and collaboration
What Are We Looking for :
- post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in a related field, and / or relevant combination of experience.
- 7-10 years of work related experience combined with post-secondary education with a specialization in environmental studies, or related discipline.
- Knowledge of environmental legislative requirements.
- Experience working with stakeholders.
- Experience obtaining environmental approvals, dealing with regulatory authorities and meeting environmental compliance obligations.
- Solid knowledge of environmental laws, regulations and guidelines as they apply to environmental and construction projects in Ontario (and other parts of Canada as applicable on a project basis)
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and manage cost effective, practical solutions to client problems and / or potential non-compliance situations
- A strong commitment to teamwork; excellent verbal and interpersonal skills are required with preference given to demonstrated aptitude for client liaison and multi-disciplinary communication
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Valid Ontario Driver's license
