The City of Delta is looking for dedicated individuals to join our team and share in our commitment to lead the way in public service excellence.
The recreation programmer assists a superior in the planning and implementation of community recreation and / or cultural programs in our recreation and cultural facilities.
The work involves supervising program staff; establishing and maintaining liaison with a variety of internal and external contacts;
promoting and publicizing interest and participation in a variety of recreational and cultural activities and programs; and assisting in the monitoring of program budgets.
Sound knowledge of recreational and cultural requirements and resources of the area served as well as sound knowledge of organized community recreation and cultural principles and practices are required.
Successful applicants will have working knowledge of pursuits related to various recreational and cultural programs and are able to prepare operating schedules, coordinate facility usage and organize special events.
Minimum requirements include a Community College graduation in community recreation plus some related experience or an equivalent of training and experience.
Occupational First Aid and CPR-C, High Five and Food Safe certifications are considered assets. A valid B.C. Class 5 driver's license is required.
This position could work at a variety of sites, and a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
