OCAD University (OCAD U) is looking to engage a Physician to work within a multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals at the University’s Student Wellness Centre (SWC).
The Physician will provide medical services to post-secondary students ages 17+ and will have booked appointments as well as walk-ins appointments.
Summary of Responsibilities :
- Provide medical services that fall within scope of practice including physicals, STI screening, immunizations, PAP tests, sexual health counselling and contraceptives etc.
- Participate constructively in relevant internal and external consultation meetings that support the overall work of the Student Wellness Centre and benefit the University community
- Maintain currency in field through association membership and professional development activities
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and management in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of the Centre
Qualifications :
- Family physician licensed to work in the province of Ontario and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- The successful candidate must have experience in mental health to service the needs of post-secondary students
- Proven judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters and the ability to respond tactfully, calmly and with sound judgement to crisis situations
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail; excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and juggle competing demands
- Familiarity with electronic medical record software. Direct experience with Telus PS Suite is an asset
- Ability to communicate clearly, convincingly, and professionally, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and proven ability to deal effectively with a diverse population
- Team player, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently, and display a high degree of initiative
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving skills; ability to respond to variety of needs of various stakeholders
Hours of Work :
- Minimum of 1.5-2 days per week (Monday to Friday); Flexible
- To begin as soon as possible
Compensation :
- Fee for Service via OHIP / UHIP billings and Canadian Provincial Health Insurance Programs, with a small administrative overhead fee
- Specific terms of this appointment would be established under an independent contractor agreement
