The Opportunity
ZE Power Engineering is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric utility industry. We are currently seeking an individual as a Civil Engineer in administrative tasks and provide support to the company. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a great team environment at a fast-growing company.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary design team, associates e.g. geotechnical engineer and client reviewers as needed.
- Assure design conformance to Client and Company design standards
- Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, calculations, illustrations for distribution and transmission civil/structural projects. Work would mainly include underground structure design, and structural/dimensional calculations, field work, drawings, material lists and work instructions.
- Willing to assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the business development and project management departments
- Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
- Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers.
- Perform site visits to project locations
Qualifications
- A Degree in civil engineering from a recognized engineering educational institution. Specializing in Structural Engineering for steel and concrete designs.
- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or EIT with EGBC.
- Civil Engineering design experience in an electrical utility environment preferred
- Knowledge of Electrical Utility Civil standards an asset.Knowledge of Power Transmission and Distribution networks and standards an asset. Experience with BC Hydro's design systems and standards an asset.
- Experience with finite element modeling and analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills needed to communicate effectively.
- Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel occasionally.
- Familiar with BC Hydro Standards, design codes and guides such as Transmission Maintenance Standard 80.4001-01, ASCE/SEI 48, ASCE 10, ASTM A394, CSA A23.3, CSA B33.4, CSA G164, CSA O15, CSA S16, CSA S37 and IEEE 691.
