Job description

We are seeking an  Inside Technical Sales for our value-added products and services. This position will be a combination of OEM and transactional.As an inside Technical Sales, you will be focused on providing technical advice and support to the sales team. You will consider the customers’ requirements when conducting technical analysis to ensure costs, resources, time, materials and specifications are accurate for the application. This position reports into the Fabrication Sales Manager – Canada. What we offer

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Interpret and clarify customer provided materials such as blueprints, CAD files, and specifications
  • Analyze tolerances, materials, and GD&T that will guide supply chain choices.
  • Collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture metal products and assemblies
  • Design part specific supply chains by utilizing internal production processes and tier 2 production processes to meet customer quality and delivery requirements
  • Negotiate labor and delivery options with tier 2 vendor base on a part level basis
  • Establish resale pricing for parts based on raw material and labor inputs
  • Perform follow up calls to gain acceptance of the offer and arrive at a mutual agreement of an order
  • Daily interaction via phone and email regarding customer needs
  • Ability to present solutions to prospective customers and win orders as well as identify additional sales opportunities with existing customers
  • Understand and communicate current market trends and customer feedback
  • Develop quotations and negotiate contract proposals that are responsive to customer needs and result in profitable sales
  • Ability to build cost matrix for new customer opportunities and quotations
  • Utilize Salesforce to indicate monthly client forecast and create SIOP reports
  • Use SAP to validate the final cost invoiced at time of reception of order
  • Create order requests subject to approval by the purchasing manager
  • Validate final POs with buyers to ensure accuracy
  • Act as a project leader on large quotes or packages, including quote management, supply chain management, and service model management; manages high level project vision and detailed quote needs
  • Manage RAP (Ryerson Advanced Processing) contract inventory management
  • Coordinate Outside Service Provider (OSP) management by identifying new OSP / labour partners and assist in the evaluation of existing shops
  • Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of fabrication metals sales and / or manufacturing industry experience preferred
  • Blueprint / drawing interpretation is an asset
  • Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills and a technical aptitude
  • Well versed in quoting and order entry
  • SAP Systems experience considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel & Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Quality standards a plus (ISO 9001)
  • Basic financial acumen in developing cost builds and customer quotations
  • Demonstrated experience with an ERP and basic computer experience
  • This position requires written and verbal French and English skills due to the diverse customer mix

  • Interpréter et clarifier les documents fournis par les clients, tels que les plans, fichiers CAD et spécifications
  • Analyser les tolérances, les matériaux et la cotation GPS (GD&T) pour orienter les choix de la chaîne d’approvisionnement
  • Collecter et analyser les données afin d’estimer le temps, les coûts, les matériaux et la main-d’œuvre nécessaires à la fabrication des produits et assemblages métalliques
  • Concevoir des chaînes d’approvisionnement spécifiques aux pièces en utilisant les processus de production internes et les processus de niveau 2 afin de répondre aux exigences de qualité et de livraison des clients
  • Négocier les options de main-d’œuvre et de livraison avec les fournisseurs de niveau 2 pour chaque pièce
  • Établir les prix de revente des pièces en fonction des coûts des matières premières et de la main-d’œuvre
  • Effectuer des suivis téléphoniques pour obtenir l’acceptation des offres et conclure des commandes
  • Interagir quotidiennement par téléphone et courriel pour répondre aux besoins des clients
  • Présenter des solutions aux clients potentiels et conclure des ventes, tout en identifiant des opportunités supplémentaires avec les clients existants
  • Comprendre et communiquer les tendances du marché et les retours des clients
  • Élaborer des devis et négocier des propositions de contrats répondant aux besoins des clients et générant des ventes rentables
  • Construire des matrices de coûts pour de nouvelles opportunités et devis client
  • Utiliser Salesforce pour indiquer les prévisions mensuelles des clients et créer des rapports SIOP
  • Utiliser SAP pour valider le coût final facturé à la réception de la commande
  • Créer des demandes de commande sous réserve de l’approbation du gestionnaire des achats
  • Valider les bons de commande finaux avec les acheteurs afin d’assurer leur exactitude
  • Agir en tant que chef de projet pour les devis ou packages de grande envergure, en gérant les devis, la chaîne d’approvisionnement et le modèle de service
  • Gérer l’inventaire des contrats RAP
  • Coordonner la gestion des fournisseurs de services externes (OSP) en identifiant de nouveaux partenaires et en évaluant les ateliers existants
  • Exigences du poste

  • Diplôme universitaire en ingénierie ou expérience équivalente requis
  • 1 à 3 ans d’expérience en ventes de fabrication métallique et / ou dans l’industrie manufacturière (un atout)
  • Capacité à interpréter des plans techniques / dessins industriels
  • Connaissance des principes de géométrie, solides compétences en mathématiques et aptitude technique
  • Expérience en élaboration de devis et en saisie de commandes
  • Expérience des systèmes SAP (un atout)
  • Maîtrise des applications Microsoft (Word, Excel et Outlook)
  • Connaissance des normes de qualité (ISO 9001) (un plus)
  • Compréhension des aspects financiers liés à la construction des coûts et aux devis clients
