Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in the automotive and parts manufacturing industry. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys designing specialized equipment, leading capital projects, improving plant layouts, and supporting manufacturing efficiency in a fast-paced production environment.
The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in supporting windshield fabrication operations through equipment design, mechanical improvements, project implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who values teamwork, accountability, practical problem solving, and the ability to make a visible impact on safety, productivity, and plant performance.
The work environment offers collaboration with plant leadership, maintenance teams, vendors, and manufacturing personnel. Candidates who are self-motivated, organized, and passionate about excellence will be well positioned to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design specialized equipment and mechanical systems to support windshield fabrication and automotive manufacturing operations.
- Manage capital projects from proposal development through full implementation, commissioning, and production handoff.
- Create and update plant layout drawings to improve workflow efficiency, safety, and use of manufacturing space.
- Collaborate with vendors, plant staff, maintenance teams, and management on purchasing, specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
- Support mechanical improvements through TPM, preventive maintenance initiatives, and capital expenditure projects.
- Investigate technical issues, reduce waste, improve equipment performance, and support plant safety initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000 to $95,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
Three weeks of vacation annually.
Scheduled plant shutdown between Christmas and New Year's.
Health and dental benefits through Desjardins, effective the first of the month following the start date.
Pension plan available after three months, with employer matching up to 9%.
