Site Overview: Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus is a modern healthcare facility providing high-quality, patient-centered medical services to the Wellington County community.
Position: Full Time Security Guard
Site: New Groves Hospital
Hours: Continental Nights (1900-0700)
Payrate: $20.24/hr.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 Hours
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct regular patrols of the hospital, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure site safety and security.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, reporting suspicious activity immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
- Respond quickly to emergencies and assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
- Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff by providing directions and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
- De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and handle all interactions calmly and professionally.
- Accurately document daily activities, incidents, accidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to maintain a coordinated security effort and ensure everyone's safety.
- Ensure visitor and patient protocols are followed, addressing violations in accordance with hospital safety standards.
Requirements:
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
- Ability to walk/climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods of time
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
